ARGONAUTA

$5.40$15.00

Lily is sitting on a beach, looking for a shell. Her world is small, isolated and safe; that's how she likes it. She doesn't 'do' other people, and she's not about to start, or so she thinks. Argonauta is about what happens when walls begin to crack. Through Lily's eyes we confront the fears and hopes of building a new world. It may be less than perfect, but then most real things are. While the themes of Argonauta are especially pertinent to young people, its insight, poignancy and humour will resonate with all.

EXTRACT: And the shells were glowing and all of a sudden one of them took off from my hand in this huge rush of energy. And I could tell it wanted me to go with it and I could have. And it grew and grew into this big flying being of light and I could have gone with it... I could have gone then... (Pause.) But... I got scared. And as soon as I had that little scared thought, everything was sucked from me. Like a giant cosmic vacuum cleaner..

EXTRACT: Anyway, it became an incident because I wanted these particular smoked almonds. They're my favourite - a little expensive but worth it in my opinion. But in all the frenzy I picked up... something. I think it was an apple. It seemed kind of solid and... and steady in that mad place. Round, whole. But I forgot I had it and I just sort of... left. Its all sorted out now. Security chased me down the street and I had to go back and explain.
