Much like an Australian pilgrim's progress dream play, Bloodwood focuses on a young woman's search for her father. She leaves her overprotective mother and travels across a harsh Australian city where she becomes embroiled in bigotry, racism, sexism, corruption and sexual violence, until finally she is reunited with her father. This is a classic quest, a journey which also serves as a metaphor for growing into tolerance.
