Two men, living in a drain, recall their turns with a prostitute. It was a degraded, public, cheap transaction, yet they cherish a fantasy of caring, of real human contact, turning it into a competition that ritually converts their own companionship into aggression and violence.
Their encounter raises a series of existential questions concerning life, death, imagination and meaning out of the unlikely materials of lives that have become barely human.
Keene transforms these men into another version of lost children. Like children, these adults are without power, agency, importance or status but because this is so, they are also without blame.
