THE EXECUTIONERS

$5.40$15.00

Three old men await death with their life's regrets. Each has had a chance to do something important and each has failed at the moment of truth. Whether they are in an old men's home, or an asylum, or merely captives of their own imaginations hardly matters. They are, in the words of one of them, refugees from their own consciences.

Needled by each other, their memories come flooding out, comic and tragic in the reliving. Their one point of agreement is that, given the chance again, they would react in a different way. Of course, second chances never come. Or do they? When you live in a state of mind they just might come in the form of a larger-then-life revolutionary whose blood lust demands retribution.

The Executioners is a tragi-comedy about power, self-delusion and hypocrisy, the church, the law and medical ethics—and second chances. Can three old men carry out their self-appointed task as executioners? Or is decisive action possible only from the two committed young women who cross their paths?

The Executioners is a modern morality play exploring timeless issues. Set in the 1970s.
