Waratah is a musical theatre piece set in Waratah Bay, Victoria during the mid 1960s. Interspersing stories from two families, Waratah looks at love and how the experience of love is as potent for a thirteen year old as it is for people who are much older. There are also stories of infatuation, youthful rebellion, marital problems and forbidden attraction. The play features 18 songs performed by Australian rock and pop groups of the time. The rights to these songs must be sought from APRA for each season and are remarkably affordable. Waratah is suitable as a professional theatre production and for performances as a school musical.
