Robert Miller, a chemist in a company which is moving its manufacturing operations to Asia to take advantage of weaker environmental laws, develops as strange relationship with the subject of a biography he is reading. Richard Steiner is a Nobel Prize winning physicist and a womaniser who helped develop the atomic bomb at Los Alamos. Although the two men have little in common, they forge a special bond that stretches across time and space from the character on the printed page to the reader. This is a play about love, family, the struggle for personal fulfillment and ethical problems that are as old as science.
