EXTRACT: When I was a kid – must've been eleven or twelve – my uncle, who had more dollars than sense, for a little while owned a Corvette Stingray; 1975 model, deep red like blood. It was the single most beautiful thing I have ever seen. And he took me out in it: we went onto a back street and he got me to hold the steering wheel while he drove. I've been hooked ever since, and it's been my dream to own one.
