A year after the disappearance of his father, John is still trying to make sense of a manuscript. The manuscript was in his father’s hotel room, the only thing John found when he went to look for him, and tells the story of an alternative form of afterlife that his father thought might be possible. John is convinced that somewhere in the confused pages of the manuscript is the answer to where his Father might be now.
Meanwhile, John’s Sister is preparing for her second wedding. Her first one fell apart due to the groom’s addiction to wedding ceremonies. Because of the tragedy of the first wedding, John’s sister is opting for a more low-key ceremony this time around, one that requires only a small number of pigeons and costumes to work correctly. Because his best friend is a pigeon fancier, John is roped out of his lethargy and forced to confront and engage with a world that is not his father’s.
After bringing himself back out into the real world he has been absent from for most of a year in order to help his sister, John is forced to make a decision about whether to finally tell his family about the manuscript, and what it might mean, and to learn a lot about love, life, and pigeons.
