Strip! is a play about ambition and identity. Set in contemporary Sydney, it follows Victoria, a young politician with a secret. Dominic, her ruthless political adviser, is leading her through the minefield towards preselection for the next safe seat, while Lily is coaching her to win a national burlesque competition. It opens with Victoria getting ready for a show and reflects the sometimes similar backstage maneuvering of burlesque and politics. Victoria is convinced that the two worlds can co-exist but she is forced to compromise in both when they start to clash. The play sees Victoria making a choice between her head and her heart. It asks if we can take our leaders seriously once we see them in sequins.

EXTRACT: Sarah’s Law is a Bill that went before the Upper House not long ago and was, sadly, rejected. I had the great privilege of meeting Sarah when she first began her campaign to introduce the legislation. Her family had been through an unimaginable tragedy: she lost her unborn child in a car accident at the hands of a negligent driver. She lost her future family; the negligent driver lost only 3 months of his life to prison.
